Clinical and Financial Strategies for the Extended Care Professional

Executive Desk:

Effective Leaders are Effective Managers, Too

Why is it that no one aspires to be a good manager these days? While good leaders are essential for galvanizing people and moving organizations forward, managers are not any less important. Managers have to get things done through others. The manager is supposed to plan, organize, coordinate, and control.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings

- Kevin Franey

Kevin Franey

As National Sales Manager (and newly appointed Publisher) of ECPN, I have had the pleasure of meeting many of you over the past few years. Whether working together on ECPN or on other publications and programs in the growing number of HMP Communications’ products, I have enjoyed our discussions. I have learned a great deal from many practitioners and executives and have gleaned a better understanding of what you need from ECPN to provide the information, education, and collegiality to improve the performance of your facility.
To address your needs, we are making some changes to ECPN. I am very excited to have the opportunity to improve our product based on your feedback and I am confident you will be pleased with the “new” ECPN.
In the coming months, ECPN will renew focus on the personal and financial side of long-term care, emphasizing bottom line performance by highlighting the executives who make it happen — answering their concerns, providing a forum for discussion, and celebrating their success. The interactive nature of our new format will facilitate networking among CEOs, CFOs, owners, administrators, DONs, and others who face the big decisions every day.
We will be enhancing our collaboration with SORIM-LTC (the Symposium on Regulatory Issues for Management in Long Term Care). This Symposium is the only place where industry executives can meet face-to-face with federal and state regulators to discuss pertinent issues and regulatory guidelines. ECPN will serve as a conduit to continue the dialog and report on the issues to help you navigate what, at times, can feel like a minefield of regulations.
As we make these changes, I welcome any comments or suggestions on what you need from ECPN as a print and online resource. Please send your ideas to kfraney@hmpcommunications.com. I look forward to hearing from you and wish you, your families, your employees, and your patients a peaceful holiday season and a prosperous New Year.

Sincerely,

Kevin Franey
