Clinical and Financial Strategies for the Extended Care Professional

Executive Desk:

Effective Leaders are Effective Managers, Too

Why is it that no one aspires to be a good manager these days? While good leaders are essential for galvanizing people and moving organizations forward, managers are not any less important. Managers have to get things done through others. The manager is supposed to plan, organize, coordinate, and control.

Comfort Clean & Shield(TM) Perineal Care Washcloths Combine Dimethicone and Zinc Oxide Barrier Protection Plus Odor Elimination in a Soft, Premoistened Washcloth

-

Sage Products has expanded its Comfort Personal Cleansing(TM) line with the introduction of Comfort Clean & Shield(TM) Perineal Care Washcloths. This first-of-its-kind offering bundles two products together for convenient yet thorough cleansing, moisturizing, deodorizing, treatment, and barrier protection. First, Comfort Clean® washcloths cleanse, moisturize, and deodorize perineal skin. They contain Exopheryl(TM), an effective odor encapsulator that eliminates offensive odors instead of masking them with fragrance. Next, Comfort Shield(TM) washcloths provide effective, dual barrier protection with 3-percent dimethicone and 6-percent microfine zinc oxide. With smaller particles than standard zinc barriers, microfine zinc oxide can be applied with greater ease and efficiency. It also eliminates the mess and waste of thick, cumbersome pastes. Combined with dimethicone, this virtually transparent barrier makes future skin assessment easier without removal and helps reduce the potential for skin tears caused by abrasive scrubbing with reusable washcloths.
Comfort Clean & Shield employs Sage's exclusive delivery system of premoistened, disposable washcloths. These soft, thick washcloths help reduce trauma associated with rough laundered washcloths and coarse paper wipes. They can be used at room temperature or warmed in a microwave or warmer for increased patient comfort. By increasing convenience and comfort, Comfort Clean & Shield facilitates greater compliance with AHRQ guidelines and the facility?s nursing protocol. Instead of utilizing different products and procedures, Comfort Clean & Shield can help the facility standardize to one protocol. By emphasizing prevention in addition to high-level treatment, Comfort Clean & Shield promotes use with all incontinent patients.
Comfort Clean & Shield can also help control costs. By combining several steps of incontinence care, it helps nurses provide a more consistent standard of care in less time. With just one SKU, it replaces multiple products, including laundered washcloths, wipes, soaps, deodorants, lotions, basins, foam cleansers, and barrier creams. It also reduces nursing labor, mess, waste, and laundry and linen replacement costs.
