Clinical and Financial Strategies for the Extended Care Professional

Executive Desk:

Effective Leaders are Effective Managers, Too

Why is it that no one aspires to be a good manager these days? While good leaders are essential for galvanizing people and moving organizations forward, managers are not any less important. Managers have to get things done through others. The manager is supposed to plan, organize, coordinate, and control.

Hormel HealthLabs, Inc. Introduces Three New L-EMENTAL™ Products for the Dietary Management of Pressure Ulcers

-

Hormel HealthLabs' new L-EMENTAL(TM) products provide three progressive dietary approaches toward pressure ulcers and those at risk for pressure ulcers. L-EMENTAL Arginine Drink Mix, L-EMENTAL Arginine Supplement, and L-EMENTAL Glutamine Supplement are all designed to help pharmacists, dietitians, and healthcare facility staff provide care for at-risk patients, existing ulcer sufferers, and trauma victims. The L-Arginine Drink Mix is a sugar-free mix that dissolves easily into six to eight ounces of water to deliver wound-healing arginine orally in orange and lemon/lime varieties. The L- Arginine Supplement is an alternative to the flavored mix product that can be given to patients via tubefeedings or served with juice. Hormel HealthLabs' L-EMENTAL Glutamine Supplement provides glutamine, which can be essential for patients with infectious diseases, burns, and other traumas. This product can also be administered via tubefeeding or served with juice. Glutamine can help decrease the incidence and rate of infection, which in turn can help reduce the average hospital stay and lower patient care costs. All three products can be beneficial to wound healing, immunity fortification, and circulatory health, which ultimately benefits both the patient and the healthcare facility.
